We are playing 6 intimate record store shows during the next leg of the Honda Civic Tour with Paramore. Sara and I generally play about a half hour set, talk, tell stories and sweat! Capacity and entrance policies will vary from store to store, some require you to pick up wristbands in advance. But we want you all there, so come on down!

Sara and I are excited to announce we will be continuing our “AN EVENING WITH TEGAN AND SARA” series for our upcoming headline shows next week. It went so well in Des Moines that we are going to keep it going!


Here is how it goes: Sara and I play two sets (one acoustic, one full band) and then have a Q+A with the audience. Bring your good questions, a pillow to sit on and your dancing shoes! It’s a party! Think intimate and interactive circa ‘94 (sorry that is a Canadian reference).

a while ago we announced how honoured we were to be nominated for the polaris prize, an award that recognizes Canadian music - regardless of the genre, label or album sales - and it’s judged by a panel of selected critics and experts from across the country.


well today we are announcing that we, along with all the other short list nominees, are performing at the gala event on September 20, 2010 at 8pm at CTV’s Concert Hall studios at Toronto’s Masonic Temple. besides us the nominees/performers include The Besnard Lakes, Broken Social Scene, Caribou, Karkwa, Dan Mangan, Owen Pallett, Radio Radio, The Sadies and Shad.


you can’t buy tickets to attend the event, but the gala will be exclusively broadcast live to North America on SIRIUS Satellite Radio channel 86 and to the world on CBC Radio 3. It will be webcast live on MuchMusic.com and broadcast on MuchMusic, Saturday, Sept. 25th at 9 p.m. and midnight ET.


at the end of the night they will announce the winner of the $20,000 Polaris Music Prize! we are pretty excited to be there and be a part of it with so many other amazing and talented Canadian musicians!

today we toasted our skin on a pretty lake outside of Nashville. we rented a boat that wouldn’t sink in a tsunami; likely made for old people or nervous Canadians. we had such a pleasant afternoon! swimming, drinking wine, squealing over black spiders the size of silver dollars, chasing girls on jet skis and listening to the smiths…a really fantastic way to spend a day off!

Growing up Sara and I loved punk rock (still do in fact). Even though our band is definitely not punk rock, I personally try to infuse the punk rock energy into my songs when I’m making new music. Have you noticed? Ha.


When I was writing Northshore I imagined the video in my head. I don’t often do that. So when it came time to sit down to write the treatment I tried to remember back to the moment I wrote that Northshore riff.


These were the things I had imagined:


a) Sara and I rocking out
b) Sara and I dancing around, possibly in a bed room or a room that looked like our childhood bedrooms
c) Sara and I in a room flanked by photos of ourselves from different eras

We’re playing a special show in Des Moines on August 17th in case you haven’t heard. The night is special in so many ways and for so many reasons, but the biggest one is that the show will be: AN EVENING WITH TEGAN AND SARA.
