so close, yet so far

Hello friends,

It’s our second to last day of recording! Sara and I are putting the final touches on the record as we speak! Technically the record isn’t even CLOSE to being done yet. Chris and Howard will be here working all next week getting the files ready to pass on to Dave Sardy, who is going to be mixing the record all next month! We’ll be popping in next week from time to time to check on their progress (take away any newly purchased cheese puffs etc) and cheer on Jason McGerr while he plays percussion (he also played drums on the new record!!!!).

Sara and I have a big photo shoot set up for Monday and Tuesday with www.pamelalittky.com. Emy has been in her workshop the last few weeks dreaming up the concept of the record. She’s built sets and sewn our wardrobe by hand. Her to-do list was enormous and sounded like a “fabricland” nightmare to me, but she is busting with creative energy. Expect great things!

We hope to announce the title of the record next week once the shoot is done and the concept is fully realized and we confirm the title! So stay tuned.

Oh!

July 3rd in Seattle is sold out. Thank you! We are very nervous but very excited to play again. It’s been quite a few months since we’ve played live. Eeek. Everyone here in Seattle has been so nice to us and we are sorry to those that can’t make it. Next time we’ll play somewhere a little bigger with room for you all!

And July 5th at the Hollywood Bowl…what a night that is going to be! We are playing with the talented and lovely Death Cab For Cutie and the equally wonderful and talented New Pornographers. The show starts early, so be sure to get there in time to park and get in the gate! Sara and I go on at 7:45pm. We play for 45 minutes!

We’ve got tons of new merchandise for both shows and made sure to order enough to send to our stores after the tour too. I think you guys are going to be super excited!!!!

Oh and the Hollywood Bowl is VERY particular about camera equipment. Be sure to only bring digital cameras that fit in your purse or pocket. No “professional” cameras with detachable lenses are allowed on the site. And don’t sneak any whiskey in your underwear. I hear the pat down is thorough. (kidding)

Lastly, we were very sad to hear that both Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson passed away yesterday. What a huge loss for so many people. What a strange, sad day. It certainly inspired me to live every moment fully!

Your friends, Tegan (and Sara)

Ps No time for a video today. Here are some pictures that www.lindseybyrnes.com took.
