Twenty years ago Sara played me a song called Walking With A Ghost. We were on tour in Europe. I couldn’t believe she had written it, but it was also the sound of the recording, her instrumentation, the vibe of the whole thing that shattered me. It was clear Sara had uncovered something, some new creative avenue, a direction for our band I hadn’t even realized we were in need of. I felt panicked. I couldn’t wait to go home and write songs that would accompany this new thing she’d created. When we got home more songs arrived from Montreal in my mailbox in Vancouver (we would literally mail each other CD’s with new songs on them). Songs like I Bet It Stung and We Didn’t Do It For The Money haunted me. The longing and brutal isolation Sara was able to conjure was inspiring. I bet I played the demos for Downtown and I Can’t Take a thousand times. I pushed myself to meet Sara where she was at, sending (via THE MAIL) CD’s with demos of mine. Songs inspired by hers. The back and forth a conversation between us about the future of our music. I Won’t Be Left and I Know I Know I Know were written the same week. Where Does The Good Go and You Wouldn’t Like Me and Fix You Up came next. Across the country, over a stretch of time where we were still touring and struggling to survive as a band, we crafted what would become So Jealous. There is no denying So Jealous changed our lives and the course of our career after it was released. Nothing was ever the same after it came out. We have so many people to thank for inspiring, supporting, and propelling us forward during that time. So a blanket THANK YOU to them all. Most of all we owe thanks to the fans who flocked to our shows, and held us up during this time. They helped create a community that would encourage us to keep going during our darkest times. We’ll always be forever grateful to this album for all that it did and gave to us. All that to say that we are THRILLED to announce a new 20th Anniversary Edition of So Jealous will be released as part of Record Store Day Black Friday 2024 on November 29! Available on 2LP Milky Clear Translucent Vinyl with the original album remastered, a disc of So Jealous era demos making their debut on vinyl & a special limited-edition Ghost poster. Mark your calendars to visit your local store on 11/29!
