Hello!
Once we settled on Heartthrob as the title for our record, we started thinking a lot about who our Heartthrobs were growing up, and where they are today. Some of them we have even have had the opportunity to meet as adults, which gave us a whole new perspective on their real lives. The whole idea of the other side of the coin really interested us, and we wanted to talk to people who themselves could be considered Heartthrobs; about what posters they had on their bedroom walls and about what it feels like to be on the other side of the infatuation of so many.
We’re calling them Heartthrob: The Interviews and we think you’ll be excited about some of the people we talked to. We also had help from the wonderful Clea Duvall, who directed all of them, thank you Clea!
We’ve already debuted the first one with our friend Skylar Astin, who recently appeared in the hilarious movie Pitch Perfect!
EW.com is premiering the second installment featuring Cory Monteith from Glee!
We met Cory for the first time when we were recording our 6th record Sainthood back in 2009. Ted, our guitar player of 8 years, is old friends with Cory from growing up in Victoria, BC, and invited him to the studio. Cory was living in LA shooting a new show called Glee. Glee had not aired yet and so Cory wasn’t already a famous Heartthrob, but we knew after an hour of talking with him that he was destined for great things. The three of us (Ted, Sara and I) could not have been more excited or proud when the show became a massive hit. Even though it’s been four years and Cory’s a giant mega star Heartthrob, he is still the nicest guy you’ll ever meet. We were honoured to interview him for our Heartthrob series.
